The $100B AI Power Move, a 1M-Token Upgrade, and Why Everyone’s Watching Sonnet 4

Hey, it’s David and welcome to this week’s edition of the AI Beacon.

This week might feel slow at first glance, less noise, a bit more breathing room. But in the background, a few heavy moves are quietly shifting the AI landscape.

Saudi Arabia just locked in a series of deals that might change where the next big AI breakthroughs happen, and this is to the tune of $100 billion. At the same time, there’s an unusual amount of hype around Anthropic’s next model, Sonnet 4. Normally, I don't like to mention rumours, but because of how slow Anthropic is with dropping new Claude models I just have to mention it. Even in quieter weeks, the right update can signal a major new direction.

🚨 Signals This Week

NEW DeepMind’s AlphaEvolve – A next-gen coding agent built to tackle unsolved technical and math problems. When Google fed it open math challenges, it didn’t just solve them—it improved on the best-known answers 20% of the time.
UPDATE GPT-4.1 now in ChatGPT – The much-anticipated 1 million context window model is now live for all users, not just API people.
UPDATE Anthropic Sonnet 4 (rumor) – The next big model could drop any day. The excitement isn’t just hype—Sonnet 4 might rival the best we’ve seen, hopes up!
NEW Saudi Arabia’s AI power plays – Nvidia is sending 18,000 advanced chips to new startup Humain backed by the UAE Government. Amazon and Google are investing billions, and big names like Zuckerberg and Musk are all visiting Riyadh this week.
NEW TikTok’s AI Alive – A feature rolling out to 1.8 billion users, letting anyone turn still photos into video clips instantly.
UPDATE Google I/O next week – Expect a Gemini-powered coding platform, Gemini for Android smartwatches and TV, maybe even XR glasses or headsets.
UPDATE OpenAI adds research exports – Subscribers can now export deep-dive research reports as polished PDFs, complete with tables, images, and linked sources.
UPDATE Spotify AI DJ – You can now ask Spotify’s AI DJ to spin up playlists for any mood or genre using just your voice.

⚙️ Workflow Gold: Create Your Website Without Coding!

Use Case: Running a deep-dive due diligence, market analysis, or legal review where you need to pull insights from dozens of documents, reports, and spreadsheets—without losing context.

Who It’s For: Professionals working with complex information—consultants, analysts, legal teams, researchers, marketers, anyone who needs to make sense of lots of data fast.

How to Use It:

  • Gather all your materials (docs, transcripts, articles, data exports).
  • Use a converter tool to merge and chunk large files if needed (PDF to text, etc).
  • Start a new ChatGPT thread using GPT-4.1.
  • Upload or paste your full batch of content in one go.
  • Prompt: “I’m sharing a set of documents and data. Your task is to: (1) summarize the key insights by section, (2) highlight actionable recommendations, and (3) flag anything that looks inconsistent or needs a closer look. Wait for me to confirm before writing a full summary.”
  • Let GPT-4.1 process everything in context.
  • Use follow-up prompts to dig deeper, ask for cross-references, or even draft an executive summary or email.

Pro Tip: If you need a detailed audit trail, you can ask GPT-4.1 to generate a table with page/document sources for every finding.

Thinking Models: What They Are & Why They Matter

A thinking model is an AI designed for complex reasoning—able to chain logic, explain steps, and analyze messy data, instead of just predicting the next sentence. Best Use Cases: Tough business problems, strategy questions, multi-step analysis, or anytime you need more than a single-shot answer.

Prompt: “Act as an expert problem solver. I’ll share a complex challenge with multiple parts. Ask clarifying questions, explain your reasoning step by step, and only present a final answer after exploring different options. Ready?”

How to use it: Drop this in Gemini or GPT-4.1 when tackling strategic planning, process improvement, or diagnosing why something isn’t working.

🤯 Mind = Blown

AI Classrooms Are Here:

Video surfaced this week of a real school where students join live, scheduled lessons taught by an AI learning system; interactive, customized, and available around the clock. It’s not science fiction anymore. The future of learning just got a little closer.

📥 Until Next Time

That’s a wrap for this week. Next up, I’ll be breaking down what’s real (and what’s noise) from Google I/O, plus hands-on reviews of the newest AI tools as they drop.

Tried something from this issue or have a workflow that’s changed how you work? Hit reply, I read every note. And if you found this helpful, consider forwarding to a colleague who wants more from AI.

Hey, it’s David and welcome to this week’s edition of the AI Beacon. It’s been a busy week, and if you’ve noticed the design community geting louder, there’s a good reason. Figma just dropped some serious updates at Config 2025, and designers are either celebrating or sweating. One of the standout features is Figma Make, a new AI-powered tool that turns designs into functioning websites. It’s part of a bigger shift we’re seeing, where design platforms like Figma and Canva are jumping into...

Hey, it's David and welcome to this week's edition of the AI Beacon. I keep thinking about the idea of “AI in the background.” Not as a loud assistant, but as quiet infrastructure, making things easier without taking the praise. And we’re starting to see it everywhere. This week’s drop is full of those quiet shifts: WhatsApp testing privacy-conscious AI, OpenAI walking back a personality tweak, Claude showing what devs really want from AI. The U.S. government is pushing agencies to build...

Hello Reader, I'm David and welcome to AI Beacon, a weekly signal in a world of AI noise. This newsletter is built around one simple idea: useful AI, applied. Since 2022, I've tried nearly every tool, skimmed most new papers within days of release, and watched wave after wave of innovation. And here's the truth: most AI content is hype, not help. That's why I created AI Beacon, to spotlight real-world use cases, practical workflows, and tools you can actually plug into your day-to-day work....
